Blockchain
Blockchain technology is an advanced database mechanism that allows transparent information sharing within a business network. A blockchain database stores data in blocks that are linked together in a chain.
Cadence
Cadence is a resource-oriented programming language that introduces new features to smart contract programming that help developers ensure that their code is safe, secure, clear, and approachable.
Collectibles
Collectables are digital unique virtual products that are minted on marketplaces as NFTs. These digital collectables are assets of value that can be acquired by collectors.
Dapp (decentralized application)
A Dapp is an application that can operate autonomously, typically through the use of smart contracts, that run on a decentralized computing, blockchain or other distributed ledger system.
Dapper Wallet
Dapper Wallet is a digital wallet and platform for managing and interacting with blockchain-based assets.
Flow
Flow is a blockchain network designed to enable transactions that are fast and affordable.
FCL (Flow Client Library)
The Flow Client Library (FCL) JS is a package used to interact with user wallets and the Flow blockchain. When using FCL for authentication, Dapps are able to support all FCL-compatible wallets on Flow and their users without any custom integrations or changes needed to the Dapp code.
KYB (Know Your Business)
Know Your Business (KYB) refers to the due diligence review of a business that a company is dealing with.
Mainnet
Mainnet is the production network for Flow.
Metadata
Metadata is "data that provides information about other data", but not the content of the data, such as the text of a message or the image itself.
Minting
Minting an NFT means creating a token on a blockchain. Only after minting an NFT is the digital collectible stored on the blockchain. It's important to know what is being stored during the minting process.
Niftory
Niftory is an API that allows users to mint NFTs and launch Dapps quickly and easily.
NFT (Non-fungible token)
A NFT is a unique digital identifier that is recorded on a blockchain, and is used to certify ownership and authenticity. It cannot be copied, substituted, or subdivided. The ownership of an NFT is recorded in the blockchain and can be transferred by the owner, allowing NFTs to be sold and traded.
NFT Catalog
The NFT Catalog is an on-chain registry listing NFT collections that exist on Flow which adhere to the NFT metadata standard.
P2P (Peer-to-peer)
P2P represents a transaction model that interacts directly without an intermediary. For Dapper purchases, they happen directly with two parties that are “peers” as Flow Accounts on the Flow network.
Testnet
Testnet is the pre-production environment used for testing and pre-development work for Flow.
Token
Tokens are digital representations of interest in an asset or used to facilitate transactions on a blockchain.
Wallet
A digital wallet is a type of financial transaction app that runs on any connected device. It securely stores your payment information and passwords.
Web3
Web3 is an idea for a new iteration of the World Wide Web which incorporates concepts such as decentralization, blockchain technologies, and token-based economics.
